Finish: Veluxe Pearl / Pinky brown plum
Star Violet is one of those tricky eyeshadows from MAC; I hated it a LOT when I first started using it because of the way it appeared on the lid. Once I accepted that this is just the way this eyeshadow is, I was able to get more out of it. If you’re expecting a bold, vibrant color, this isn’t it. However, Star Violet is great for making seamless transitions between colors and blends beautifully. A great primer is highly suggested for the full effect (I use and swear by Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance). I personally wouldn’t recommend using this one alone, as it works best when paired with other colors – think of Star Violet as the “supporting actor”, not the movie star.

I can totally get this color to be bright and fun. Sometimes using a denser brush is the key. It also looks amazing used over Royal Hue shadestick.

question-I know what highlight with a color is but what does it mean when you say highlight and blend with a certain color?
macshadowcombos
Hi!
What that means is I use that color to highlight the brow bone and blend away any harsh lines between colors.

Hi! I was wondering…what crease brush do you use?
Zabrena
Hi Hannah!
I use the Sigma E30 for precise color placement and the MAC #222 (or Sigma E45) for more blended placement. The Sigma crease brush (E30) is MUCH better than MAC’s 219 – not as stiff a brush and much easier to work with.
Hope this helps! 🙂

Yes it does thanks a lot!

I have this colour and match it with Sketch, I got this as a recommendation of a MAC seller (apparently he had made up a famous singer years before, she also has brown eyes). I could not agree more with the idea of a secondary-complementary colour!
Thanks again!

Today, I used Satin Taupe on the lid, Star Violet for the crease, and Shroom to blend and highlight, the result was amazing! Whenever I can’t think of an eye look, I just browse your site and it never fails me. 🙂

Thanks for the UD Naked1 MAC dupes. I will be trying this with Toasted instead of Sable 🙂

Strange, when I swatched this against Trax , Trax looked weak and sad while Star Violet was like POW… Rich purple with insane gold sparkles. That was on my hand though, sad to see it doesn’t look that way on the lid!
