Spotlight On: MAC Sable

sableFinish: Velvet / Gold plum with bronze pearl

Known Dupes: UD Toasted

Sable is a beautiful color and works with SO many of MAC’s colors. This is considered a brown shade, but it has purple and red tones in it that show when paired with like colors. I would describe this as a medium toned shade, as it’s not sheer, but not too dark on the lid. Sable can be worn daily and dressed up just as easily for evening looks. It applies smoothly, evenly, blends beautifully and is a very easy eyeshadow to work with. I use this quite often in my daily routine and it is one I tend to reach for when I’m in a hurry.

Look #1

MAC eyeshadows used:

  • Sable (on lid, below crease)
  • Free to Be (crease)
  • Vanilla (blend)

  1. I put off buying Sable for ages, as I had Twinks, Mulch, Satin Taupe – colours that are “close”. Finally realized I love it and ordered it a month or 2 back and I love it – it is so versatile! I really like it on the lid with Tempting or Patina in the crease.

  2. OK one more comment then I am going to hush…. I just have to add that this is my new favorite as of late… I was skeptical at first (The word “plum” just sounds so unflattering.) But holy oh my goodness I am a believer! I wore it today with Naked Lunch and Phloof as a highlight and it really looked phenomenal. I actually kept checking myself out in reflective surfaces because my eyes looked absolutely enormous. It made my baby blues even bluer. I am a huge fan. Can’t wait to put it with Vanilla.

  3. Look 7 is simple and pretty. I have been looking for things to do with Sushi Flower and pairing it with Sable is a great idea!
