Spotlight On: MAC Haux

Finish: Satin / Soft muted rosy brown

Haux is one of my most favorite neutrals in MAC’s collection and it doesn’t get enough love! This is best described as a rosy brown and has red undertones, so if you have green or blue eyes this is definitely one color you should try. I like it in the crease for daytime looks, but when it’s applied to the lid it creates a very beautiful (and easy) smoky eye. Some people have said it makes them look bruised, which I could definitely see. If that’s the case, stick to the crease or the outer v with this one.

  1. Love this website/blog! You’ve given me so much more use to all the colors I own and want me to get new ones! Please continue to post ideas!

  2. This is a really helpful site, I’m quite surprised it exsits, Mac should thank you! I went and bought Haux today because of it (and love it already, have been playing with it) and also picked up Shadowy Lady. Thanks, keep going!

    1. Thanks, Emily! Happy to hear you’re enjoying the site! 😀
Haux is absolutely one of my favorites! I have to work a bit more with Shadowy Lady. My first couple times using it I haven’t been too impressed by it, but I definitely need to do a Spotlight for it to find those really good combos.

  3. I totally agree that Mac should be so thankful to you , cause because of this site i have got eyeshadows about 340 eur worth!
Please keep going with the different looks, it is just amaizing your skills and imagination with suitable colours!
    Thank you very much!
P.S. i like your site most because of another reason too, you keep uploading things constantly…otherwise you sometimes just forget to check if there is a month between the looks!

    1. Thanks, Kristina! 🙂
You saying that makes all this hard work SO worth it!
I do try to update as often as possible to keep things fresh and so you always have something new to look at; thanks for noticing! 🙂

There is no picture for look #5. Also, I wanted to ask you if there are browns that are more for cool toned skin than others. I was curious if you knew. I know it’s kind of a dumb question. 🙂 Thank you for all your hard work, and placing new looks in the Spotlights. 🙂

Hi Karah! Not a dumb question at all!
Wedge and Omega are cooler browns and Mystery is one that is more neutral and plays well with all skintones. 🙂

And thanks for catching #5 (and your appreciation!) – I’m in the midst of building a list of the images that need to be redone due to poor lighting/image quality. That’s one of ’em! 🙂 It should be back up by the end of October.

  5. For some reason, even tho I recently signed up &paid for membership to this wonderful site, I sometimes still get shut out of seeing the looks I am entitled to as a paid member. Does one need to pay more than the 12.95 in order to enjoy all that the full library havs to offer. I’m confused

Hi! No, you should be good to go after payment is sent. Are you sure you’re logged into the site each time you try to view the combos? I get kicked out every now and then and have to re-login; please check the bottom center of the site to make sure it’s not telling you to log-in next that happens. If you’re logged in and that happens, please let me know! 🙂

  6. Forgot how much I love Look #7. Girlie is such a great color to pair with Haux. I’m wearing look 7 today. I added a bit of Jest in the center of the lid 🙂

    Hi,
I’m new and I’m so happy I joined!! What color could you use in place of Haux? Thanks a bunch!!

    1. Hi Hollie!
Welcome to you! Thank you for becoming a member!
The closest I have seen for a dupe is in the Naked3 palette – Nooner, I believe it is. 😉

  8. Hollie, I believe Zabrena may have once mentioned that Tease from the Naked 2 pallet is a great dupe for Haux. :-D. Enjoy the site!

  9. For this look (#3)I was wondering, did you just apply the Haux eyeshadow all over the lid or did you use another eyeshadow in your crease? Thank you very much! PS I love your site, its so helpful!!!

    1. Hi Claire!
There are two eyeshadows in that look; if you look at the description, it should say Copperplate was used on the lid and Haux was used in the crease 🙂
So glad to hear you’re enjoying the site! Thank you for being a member!
      Hope that helps! 🙂

  10. I enjoy look #4. Today I mixed it up and used Makeup Geek’s Bitten to deepen the crease 🙂 Turned out nicely!
