Spotlight On: MAC Satellite Dreams

Finish: Veluxe Pearl / Deep plum with pearl

Known Dupes: Fashion Groupie

Satellite Dreams is a purple shade with blue tones. This looks especially great when paired with other purples, silvers, blues and pinks. This does apply very sheer and if you don’t use a primer underneath, you won’t get the full effect with this one. Even with a primer, it does take a couple of layers to build up the true color. To increase its vibrancy, you can try layering it over a purple paint pot like MAC’s Half Wild, or mix it with an eyeshadow transformer. When I want it to be really bold, I opt for an eyeshadow transformer like Jesse’s Girl brand. I just love Satellite Dreams to pieces (especially in look #2)! Whether used on the lid, in the crease or just for a small pop of color in the outer v, you really can’t go wrong with this beautiful shade.

Look #1

MAC eyeshadows used:

  • Electra (on lid, below crease)
  • Satellite Dreams (crease)
  • Nocturnelle (deepen crease)
  • Vanilla and Gesso (blend)

      Heya!
You could use Tilt, Shimmermoss, Moon’s Reflection, Winkle, Freshwater – just use them lightly and REALLLLLY blend it out to get that same effect! πŸ™‚

        1. Ahhh, it was probably an old combos that was deleted; I’ve been going through and refreshing the older posts. πŸ™‚ I believe it used SD on the lid and EE in the crease – and it was for Electric Eel, you’re right πŸ˜‰

  2. HELP! lol, if i have this do I need that? I am nc 42 and I cant decide whether to get get satellite dreams or sketch/shadowy lady? I love purple and feel that the color enhances my brown eyes and really make them pop! Thanks to you of course:) I purchased nocturnelle and plum dressing and fell in love! However, I got a mac gift card and want to purchase more purples and grays! I have electra and copperplate on my list but I’m not sure which purples to get:(

      Hi Marisol!
I think you definitely can’t go wrong with Satellite Dreams!
Sketch and Shadowy Lady can be interchangeable with one another in my opinion; both are not easy to work with, but Sketch is a little better than Shadowy Lady.
Sketch has more noticeable purple tones in it too, whereas S.L. can appear black on the lid.

  3. Hi!

Loving your site! I was after some advice on purple M.A.C eyeshadows. Im very fair with strawberry blond hair. My palette is mostly neutrals, blues, greys, a few pink/burgundy shades and gold/greens. I would like to add a bit of purple to the mix and was torn between trying the purple times nine or just getting a coupke of extra shades for my palette. Would really love your thoughts. My blog has all the shades I have purchased thus far if you would like to take a look at what might best fit.

    Thank you in advance
    Allison😊
