Finish: Velvet / Burgundy-plum with shimmer
Trax is a medium purple shade with specs of gold glitter throughout the formula. It takes a little bit of time and patience to build it to the true color it is, but it’s worth it in the end. Based on my time spent with Trax, I like using it most in the crease. I feel it loses some of the effect when used all over the lid or in the outer v, plus I felt like I really had to pile it on to get it to show in those areas. This is a beautiful accent to pinks and other purples.

I’m not joking, most days I come check your website for inspiration before I do my makeup. I love having a reference to come and get ideas from. Thank you Zabrena! (Thanks for commenting on my blog post about this site too, it made my day!)
Zabrena
Aww, you’re so welcome Michelle! I’m glad the website helps inspire you!
(And thank YOU for the write-up – so thoughtful of you!)

I used Look #4 today with a couple alterations. I went back and added Contrast to the crease in addition to Beautiful Iris. Then I blended with Vex instead of Vanilla since I don’t have it. I’m also light skin African American and some colors don’t show up as bright or the same way on me as they do on you. It came out more of a smokey purple/very subtle dark blue in the crease, looks great with my hazel /green eyes, I think it’s my new purple look!
Thanks for these ideas, I also love the #3.
Zabrena
That sounds AMAZING, Rachel! Wow!
Thank you for sharing that! 🙂

**I actually added Contrast with a wet brush, not on purpose though, but only because I was done and cleaned my brushes when it all of a sudden hit me to try throwing a Navy Blue type color in the mix. It actually just enhanced the color going on wet.

Hey zabrena can you please do more looks with trax if you get the time thanks 🙂
My Eyeshadow Consultant
I’ll keep that in mind for you on the next round of updates; thank you, Monalisa! 🙂

I agree with Monalisa. I would like more looks with Trax. I didn’t think think I would like Trax but I really do! Like you, I like to wear it in the crease. 🙂
Susie Karvalics
I had Trax but didn’t like it. I love how you made it work.

Love, love, LOVE your sight! I thought your youtube videos would be sufficient but this site ROCKS!!! What at bargain!! I do have a question about what you mean by “blending” the vanilla/blanc type as opposed to highlighting?
Marren Blakely
I was wondering if you knew of any good urban decay or drugstore dupes for Trax
Sunshine1
Hi Marren,
I’ve used Sparkling Wine from Maybelline ( expert Eyewear Shadow #115). I don’t know if you can still buy it. Hope this helps.
Kaitlyn
I too once owned this little beast of a shade and didn’t like it. I swapped it away when I discovered Maybelline Sparkling Wine. However, that has been discontinued and I have found something even better!!! It’s a bit more pricey, but if you really love this color (or rather the idea of it) it’s completely worth every penny! Laura Mercier African Violet! It’s almost the same shade as Trax, it still varies in color depending on the angle, and the golden/copper shimmer actually shows up, without a base or building it up! Give it a shot!!!
Zabrena
Haha! Yes! Exact color, you’re right! I’m still not a fan of it, either. LOL! 🙂 I just can’t bring myself to love purple and gold together, something about it just looks weird to me! Argh. Glad you like it, though! 😀
