Finish: Matte2 / Muted mid-tone gray
Copperplate is a dark gray shade in a matte finish. It applies well and I found it was rather easy to use it both on the lid and in the crease. This shade creates a seamlessly easy smokey eye and is easily paired with any eye color or skintone. I do like how easily this eyeshadow blends out and how pigmented the color is. Although I’m not a big fan of gray eyeshadows, this one is pretty impressive.
Look #1
MAC eyeshadows used:
- All Races LE (on lid, below crease) – you could also use Shale or Quarry here
- Copperplate (crease)
- Typographic (deepen crease)
- Vanilla (blend)

I’ve been waiting and waiting to see your looks with Copperplate and you did not disappoint! The Matte2 finishes are SO terrific, I don’t know why MAC seems to be phasing them out. I also love Typographic and Blanc Type which are both Matte2. Thanks for these lovely inspirations!

Thanks, Mariella! 🙂
I agree – the Matte2 and Veluxe Pearls are my absolute favorite finishes. Figures – the minute you find something you like, the company discontinues it! LOL

I love copperplate! Even warm toned ladies can wear it if paired with the right colors, I think. I lean warm but find that I need browns to be very neutral. This provided that soft contour for me where wedge and cork both failed. A combo that I like for my skin tone is: Blanc Type on lid and for highlight, Soft Brown in crease to browbone, and Copperplate to deepen the crease. Soft Brown warms up Copperplate and Copperplate helps neutralize Soft Brown which is normally a little warm on me. 🙂

In the look #2 Copperplate doesn’t look gray at all. I love the look. I was wondering if there is anything else that is close to this color already in my collection.
Zabrena
Hmmm, you could try Smut or Scene in its place; they’re both darker than Copperplate though.
I don’t know of any others that could really substitute for it in MAC’s line. My apologies! 🙁

Look #5 is awesome! I love mattes! lol I’m looking for a matte dark blue. I don’t know how often I’d use Nehru except for the look above… I was wondering if you’ve considered doing a spotlight on Naval? =)
Zabrena
Hi Nikki!
Yes, definitely! It’s on my next “to buy” run at MAC – haha! 😉
How about something like Contrast?
