Finish: Velvet / Purplish-blue with blue pearl
After receiving TONS of requests for a Spotlight on Contrast, I ordered it last weekend in preparation for this long overdue post. I’ll admit, I was VERY apprehensive ordering another blue, given my history with blue eyeshadows, but after receiving it I immediately liked how dark it was in comparison to many of the blue shades I already own. Following the method of coordinating eyeshadows to your eye color, if you have light blue eyes, Contrast will be one you might just fall madly in love with because it will make your eyes POP! Darker, deep blue eyed ladies will need to stick to the lighter blues and forego Contrast. Every other eye color out there (hazel, brown, green) should definitely consider this one! I found it extremely easy to work with and loved the color that transferred to the lid, which was surprising given that the Velvet formula isn’t one of my favorites. Also, I find it worth mentioning if you have been drooling for limited edition shade Prussian, Contrast is its near to exact dupe!

Love look 1! In a couple of the looks it almost looks like Contrast has a little gray to it. It reminds me of another eye shadow ,but I can’t think of what it is! 🙂 LOL!
My Eyeshadow Consultant
LOL! I know how that goes!
Maybe that’s why I like it so much! I does tend to lean gray depending on what it’s paired with – it does remind me of what Scene does to my eyes when used solely on the lid!

I love, love Contrast. It was one of my first MAC shadows. I love it with Vex all over the lid, Copperplate in the crease and Contrast in the outer third of the lid and as a liner on the top. This turns my hazel eyes this great almost glowing yellow color. I also really like it with Stars n Rockets on the lid, Fig1 in the crease and Contrast in the outer third of the lid and to line. I can’t wait to try #1 and #4. I don’t have Scene, any good substitutes?
My Eyeshadow Consultant
Ouuu! Those combos sound lovely! I may have to add them on in the future; thanks for those, Desiree! For Scene, you could substitute with Smut or even Knight Divine. Scene has a blue tinge to it so it works well with Contrast in that look, but the subbies would look nice too. 😉
Desiree
Thanks! I will give it a try with Knight Divine. I forgot to add that Contrast also looks great with Motif.

Ouu! You are full of ’em, girl!! 😉 Thank you!!

Great ideas Desiree! Keep them coming! 🙂

Yay i’m so glad you added contrast to your collection. I love look #3 🙂 It was one of my first mac eyeshadows. I love it with expensive pink on the inner lid, contrast on the outer, kid in the crease and texture (blend expensive pink and contrast into kid). I tried the same combination with indanwood paintpot as my base and it gave both expensive pink and contrast a gorgeous look.

I love Contrast. Blue-purples are awesome.
My Eyeshadow Consultant
Yeah they are! 😉

Thank you ! I’ve been among the ones begging for a Spotlight on Contrast. I love it as a dark blue smokey, with a warm medium brown as a color transition.
It’s weird as it does not seem blue at all in your looks (which are quite nice by the way)!
My Eyeshadow Consultant
That sounds lovely, Nathalie! So far that’s been the way I’ve been enjoying it too!
Yeah, the blue didn’t come across on camera as well as I hoped it would!

I have had this color forever & have worn it maybe once now you have given me GREAT looks to use! Thanks soooo much! Look #1 is my fave in Contrast so far. Looking forward to the updates!

So funny, contrast was one of my first “smokey” shades back in the day. It was like OOOOO the alternative smokey eye shade, like exclusive. LOL but I absolutely love it and have repurchased 2x at least. Thanks for doing this post Z, excellent job and more for my look book:).

Hi Devon! 😀
Contrast is a realllll dark blue compared to Deep Truth, which is a dark blue, but much lighter compared to Contrast. I personally like Contrast a lot more, so definitely a great one to have! And you wouldn’t be duping it by already having Deep Truth 😉

Look 8 is simply gorgeous. I can’t wait to try it when I get my order!!

I have not tried look 8 yet but I have discovered that Contrast looks sooooo pretty with Sushi Flower!
Zabrena
Ouuu! I can see those blending beautifully into one another!

Vellum is no longer a color that is available, what other color do you suggest?
Zabrena
You could try Crystal Avalanche or Crystal! Crystal is very close to the same kind of effect Vellum gives 😉

I love this new look you just add, #9!! I need to get this shade, so so beautiful!!
