Focus On: MAC Brick-O-La

Finish: Amplified Creme / Mid-tone berry

Rating: lippie2lippie2lippie2lippie2lippie2 (5 out of 5)

Brick-O-La is a color that intimidated the be-jeezus out of me when I first saw it in MAC’s collection, but I am naturally attracted to reds as I still try to find my perfect partner! I was quite surprised to not only find this a wearable color, but it didn’t make me look like a vampire!
It actually added more warmth to my look and I like how bold the color is without be over the top. Love the smooth finish of the Amplified Creme formula and how easily it comes off at the end of the day with a simple makeup remover pad. It doesn’t stain my lips like most other red lipsticks do that I’ve tried.

What are the Best Eyeshadows to Pair with Brick-O-La?

outreface1For the eyeshadow combo shown, please click here.

Neutral shades, yellow-toned shades, orange-leaning shades all work nicely with Brick-O-La and don’t compete with its brazen appearance. In the example above, I’m wearing a neutral combination, but punched it up a bit with a more yellow leaning shade in MAC’s Outre. Other eyeshadows you can pair up with Brick-O-La will be listed below with their corresponding posts as well.

  1. Very pretty Zabrena! 🙂
Like you, I’m fair and trying to find the ‘perfect’ red lipstick. Sometimes you just want a more simple eye and a bold lipstick. You have given a great demonstration and Instruction for fair ladies that lean warm in their skintone. Sometimes people think you shouldn’t wear red lips if your fair. I happily disagree, if its the right shade! 🙂

    1. Absolutely!
I was of that mindset for so long – I thought because I was fair I could NEVER wear red lipsticks, but it’s all in the shade, you’re right.
Still looking for the best one for everyday though! 😉

      1. Hi Z,
I wanted to ask if you have tried MAC’s Ruby Woo lipstick? I read that it has more blue undertones and is easier for fair ladies to wear. I don’t know haven’t tried it. It would be interesting though. 🙂

          1. MAC also has RiRi Woo LE but it’s a dupe. All that’s different is MAC placed Rihanna’s name on it. Plus it’s sold out. I think it would be great to do a review on Ruby Woo. 🙂

  2. I love Brick-o-la. I love MAC’s Amplified Cream lipsticks and wish they had more colour I can wear because they last so well without drying my lips. I love this colour on you, Zabrena – it just lights up your whole face. For me, the biggest issue isn’t co-ordinating it with eye shadows – I will wear it with any eye shadow combos – it’s more co-ordinating it with my blush colour. I use Desert Rose or Frankly Scarlet with it, rather than my usual go-to blush, which is Tarte Natural Beauty.
