Spotlight On: MAC Blue Calm

bluecalmFinish: Veluxe Pearl / Primary blue with pearl

Blue Calm is a medium toned blue with intense pigmentation; it applies easily and blends away just as beautifully. If you’re looking at the swatch and wondering how it compares to some of MAC’s other blues, I will say it’s extremely similar to two in particular – Electric Eel and Freshwater. In fact, if you mixed the two together, I feel you’d get Blue Calm. It is slightly darker than Electric Eel and slightly lighter than Freshwater. I personally don’t find blues like this appealing on myself because my blue eyes get lost in blue eyeshadows. However, if you have brown eyes this is definitely one I’d recommend trying, as I tried showing in look #6. πŸ˜‰

Look #1

MAC eyeshadows used:

  • Blackground Paintpot (as a base, below crease)
  • Blue Calm (on lid, below crease)
  • Malt (crease)
  • Blanc Type (blend)

  1. Hi Z!
Very nice! πŸ™‚ I wanted to ask you how you like Grain? I just ordered it and I’m hoping its a good color. Thanks πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks, K! πŸ˜‰
It’s a pretty nice color. I’d describe it as Brule but with a little bit of shimmer, similar to Era’s shimmer. Light and not over the top. πŸ˜€

  2. Love #6, now I wish I have brown eyes!! Blues and teals are my favorite colors but that is exactly my eye color, so I can’t use them unless they are really dark!
