Focus On: MAC Pervette

Finish: Glaze / Soft bright pink with violet opalescent shimmer

Rating: lippie2lippie2 (2 out of 5)

Okay, seriously? What is with this funky name? I don’t know about you, but wearing a lipstick called ‘Pervette’ is not exactly my cup of tea. First turn-off. Second turn-off with this color is its frosty factor. If you like the frosty type, you’ll love this one; it’s like MAC found a way to put the 80s in a tube! I also was not too fond of the color of this one as it’s this sheer, bright pink with a purple hue mixed in. As a pale gal, I can normally pull off lipsticks like this, but even I reminded myself of the women who are really tan who wear those concealer type colors. After application, it fades in a matter of hours and it just looks strange on my lips. Sadly, this one didn’t do it for me. Thankfully I only got a sample of it so I’m not stuck with the full size (hurray for samples!)! Have you tried it?

What are the best eyeshadows to pair with Pervette?

See combo #11 in Era post here for an up-close view of the eyeshadow look.

Pervette is light enough and not strong enough in color that it can easily pair with a wide variety of eyeshadows. In the photo above, I’ve paired it with a green combination, but it would also work well with these colors:

  1. Well, someone always needs a good ’80s frost for those summer concert tours like Night Ranger to sing along to “Sister Christian” and look the part! Ha, ha! Go, MAC!

  2. I’m a Bright Winter with cool undertones to my fair skin and have considered this color. Icy, shimmery colors look best on me. I look dead in the typical “nude” colors for the lips or eyes. Thank you for posting what e/s colors would look best with it.

  3. Hi Z,
This one is definitely a wash out. The frost in this one is too much. I look better with some color in my lipstick. A lot more! Thanks for your review Zabrena! 🙂

      1. I like it with either a nice sparkly Dazzleglass over it, or if you swipe Pervette on the top lip and Rebel on the bottom then blend together, it makes a pretty hue. The lipstick name that turns me off is Lickable….just can’t bring myself to say it much less wear it.

        1. LOL! Lickable is definitely another awkward name . . . ugh! 🙁
Those are some great suggestions! I will keep that in mind if I try Rebel in the future, thanks for that! 😉
