Focus On: MAC Party Line

Finish: Cremesheen / Red toned plum

Rating: lippie2lippie2lippie2lippie2(4 out of 5)

This is the first lipstick in these reviews that I honestly don’t know how I feel about it, in terms of color. In my opinion a large portion of that may be due to how much it reminds me of my beloved Brick-O-La but there’s something different about Party Line I can’t quite place my finger on. MAC describes this as having plum in it, but I just don’t see it; all I see is straight RED! While I do feel the color is flattering on those of us with lighter complexions, it’s not one I’d run right out and buy tomorrow. It’s nice, but not nice enough for me to say “Oh, I must have it NOW!” Party Line is very easy to apply straight from the tube, requires no lip brush (unless you want to perfect the lines around the mouth) and lasts for quite a long while. I did notice after taking it off, it didn’t stain my lips as badly as other reds have in the past. If you have medium to dark skin and you’ve been looking for a great red, I’d say definitely try Party Line! How do you feel about this one?

Hands down, neutrals are going to be your best bet with a big, bright, bold color like Party Line. In the above look I used Urban Decay’s Naked Palette and either Naked1 or Naked2 are great for pairing with this color. Any of MAC’s neutrals would work beautifully as well, and I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you which ones 😉 Let me know how you would wear this color!
