Stila In the Light Palette Looks

stila_inthelightAfter experiencing how great Stila’s In the Garden palette was, I had to try their other ‘In the’ palettes (oh, you knew that was coming! ha!).

The second I opened In the Light, I was instantly reminded of Urban Decay’s Naked1 Palette. While there are some similarities between the two and minor duping going on, I still feel they’re different. I like the finishes of the eyeshadows in Stila’s palette better and even though you’re getting fewer eyeshadows, they’re just better quality, in my opinion. My most favorite shades in this palette are Sunset and Bliss; Sunset for its reddish tint and Bliss because it’s comparable to my beloved MAC Malt! I sometimes feel Naked from the Naked1 Palette can be hard to work with, but Bliss applies effortlessly and blends away seamlessly.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the blending shade in the palette blended well with ALL the colors in the palette – all of them, even the browns! Sometimes you get a blender that creates a muddy mess, but not this one!

    1. Hmm, the only ones I’d say are MAC dupeable would be Bare = Blanc Type, Kitten = Grand Entrance (LE), Bliss = Malt. Other than that, the rest are pretty unique to themselves.

  1. These are such beautiful looks!! You are so talented Zabrena!! Thank you for all your inspirational and creative pics!! 🙂

  2. Months ago, I went for a free makeover at Sephora and the MA used this palette on me and the results were very nice. Night Sky looks very blue in the palette photo but more grey on your hand-swatch. Which is the “truer” colour? I’m contemplating getting this one and also In the Know (which is all mattes but contains an orange I’d never use) but I don’t really know that I’ll use them all that much but you know the effect you and your “spotlights” have on me! Especially when they are as beautiful and wearable as these! BTW, I got the Bare Minerals Power Neutrals palette. It’s wonderful!

  3. Yay! I’ve been waiting for this post forever! Love your combos Zabrena, especially look #3. I have all 4 Stila palettes, and if you enjoyed In the Garden & In the Light, you will looove In the Moment! 🙂

    1. I am really looking forward to ‘In the Moment’! I tried it out for the first time this past weekend and already love the purples! Glad you enjoyed this one, Heidi! 😀

  4. Gorgeous! I’ve wanted this palette for such a long time and finally decided I wasn’t going to purchase it because I have the Naked 1 palette (after hmm-ing and hah-ing because I love, love, love, the eyeshadow Sunset). Now, seeing this post, I’m conflicted again… such gorgeous colours and looks.

  5. I have this palette and love it…I like the way these colours work together, plus for me, the palette is small enough to fit in a make up bag so great for travel..great post and super looks! Thanks.

    1. Hmmm, the only ones I’d say could come close would be the last two on the end (gray and black) and Champagne (comparable to Kitten).
Other than that, no real exact dupes between it and the LORAC Pro in my opinion. 🙁

  6. Uh Oh! The makeup fairy is going to have to visit my mailbox soon after seeing this. P.S. Don’t tell my husband that there is no such thing as the makeup fairy Shhhhh!

  7. “Purchased” this yesterday using my Shopper’s Drug Mart points (Canadians here will know what they are). Cannot wait to use it! Every single colour is wearable and I just LOVE Bubbly.

    1. Hmmm, not really; it’s much more yellow than Kitten. MAC’s Grand Entrance LE eyeshadow is an exact dupe for Kitten, but hard to find. All That Glitters would be a close second, although not an exact match. 🙁

  8. I’m kinda on the fence between Lorac Unzipped and Stila In the Light.. as a beginner which one would you suggest?:) i have a medium skin tone with strong yellow undertone and have brown eyes

    1. Hi Rochelle! I would recommend the Stila in the Light palette! I feel like between the two you’d get a wider range of looks with it and enjoy it a lot more. Hope this helps! 😉

  9. I set this palette aside because of some new palettes/shadows I’d bought but took it out again on the weekend. Honestly (Rochelle, this might interest you), I keep being blown away by what a great and well-planned palette this is. I used Luster yesterday for the first time. Talk about PIGMENTED – I actually overdid it and had to go back with Bliss and Bare to tone it down a bit but what a fabulous shadow among a palette full of amazing shadows.

  10. Hi!
Found this site a couple of weeks ago and just joined as a silver member. I happen to own several of the palettes shown here and I have recently started to collect the MAC’s. Brands like UD and Stila are hard to find here in Sweden, but I order most of my stuff from Beautybay.com.
Bought this palette several month ago, but I have never used it….until NOW! As you explain, the finish and quality is really good and I think the colour combo is just perfect.
Thanks for bringing it out of my drawer!

  11. I know I’m late to the party, but I just joined. I just bought this palette and I’m doing ALL THESE STUNNING LOOKS!! THANK YOU!!

  12. I saw your youtube vid. The quarts quartet eyeshadow palette from physicians formula has a dupe for mac’s Malt. Would that also be a dupe for stila’s bliss?

  13. I bought this palette about a month ago when I saw your look #1 and fell in love with it. I used it once and decided I needed more practice putting on eyeshadow! lol So, after watching your videos and practicing applying it your way, I used it again today and I have to say…it looks really good!! You really have to be careful with Ebony. A little goes a LONG way! Thanks for your help, Zabrena!
