Vice2 is a limited edition palette released by Urban Decay in September 2013 and features 20 eyeshadows, providing an unlimited amount of combinations and unique potential. If you’re familiar with Urban Decay eyeshadows, you already know the amount of glitter and shimmer to be expected from their eyeshadows, but I’m happy to say there is a good mixture of formulas provided in this palette.
While there are only three true matte shades (Habit, Rewind and X-Rated), the remaining shades are shimmery but not packed with fallout glitter, with the exception of Shellshock which is a glitter nightmare (I guess we can let them get away with ONE glitter offender though, huh?). I found these shades so easy to work with, highly pigmented and not hard to blend at all.
The packaging is rather bulky for my liking and I would have liked to have seen a slimmer palette (it’s about 3/4 inch thick!) so I could easily stick it in my purse or an overnight bag. The advantage to having a big palette like this is that the mirror is also HUGE as well, allowing you to set it on a table and literally do your whole face. Maybe that can help make up for its bulkiness if I take it with me on my next trip. 😉
Will you be splurging on this or another holiday palette?
What about dupes? Please see my first post about this palette here for those.

Just tried number 6 for fun and I really like it. Thank you for posting these. Super helpful!
Zabrena
You’re most welcome, Nadia! I’m glad you’re already enjoying them! 😀
Nicola
Just bought vice 2 palette, nit used it yet! Great to see lots of combinations on here, thank you Z! Can’t wait to try them x
Zabrena
Enjoy, Nicola! 🙂

I splurged on it for Damaged, X-rated and Coax… and then went and dyed my hair dark red so I feel like I can’t wear pink shadows anymore! At least the greens are still beautiful and I love Ambush.
Zabrena
Ambush is one of my favorites, too! And Damaged, wow! What a green!
Mariella
Sigh….I don’t need or want this palette (partly because of the size) but I so wish some of the colours – Derailed, Stash and Voodoo especially – were available individually. I’ll probably end up breaking down and buying this palette and then not using it because the size just isn’t conducive to the storage space I have in my little bathroom.
Zabrena
I feel ya! I do hope some of these shades come out in single form! Would LOVE to have Toxic and Coax myself!
Barbara Seidler
You are so gifted to put together GREAT color combinations which is SO HELPFUL! Saw your video about all the time it takes to make a weekly column with looks for us — thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
Zabrena
Haha! You’re welcome, welcome, welcome B! 😉 Hugs!
Karah
Hi Z,
Your absolutely right about the size of this palette. It’s way too bulky. I’m thankful that I have a big bathroom, but even in a big bathroom it just sticks out too much! Thank you for all the work that you do for us. 🙂 I think it was good that you put the video out showing how much work is behind what you do. I’m so very thankful for what you do. Nice looks by the way. 🙂
Zabrena
Thank you, K! 🙂
Yeah, I thought that might be an interesting video; I’ve wanted to do it for a while but glad I waited until now 🙂

I am a huge fan of this palette and UD in general. I am new to this site but, love it love it. I know this is my “eyeshadow” consultant but, my feelings would not be hurt one bit if you did more full face tutorials. I sometimes get lost when it comes to the other match ups and, despite owning a good 100 lipsticks, always go for Mac “gel” or some other nudeish shade.
thanks for being great. (oh, and thanks for the response to my email about fake MAC stuff. I watched your videos and I think youve helped alot less swear words enter the atmosphere.)
Thanks!
j
Zabrena
Haha! Welcome to you, Jenn! 🙂
I will keep full face tutorials in mind for you; I have been incorporating them more into the videos on the YouTube channel.
Thank you for your support!

Hey Zabrena! I am so, so excited to see the Vice2 palette in the combination directory! I haven’t bought an eyeshadow palette before as I have so many self-made MAC palettes but I really liked the look of Vice2. I bought it to take on holidays with me, actually, as I thought it looked like I could use it for a variety of looks. I figure that I only really need to take an extra blending/highlight shade or two (like Blanc Type and Ricepaper), perhaps a matte grey and black eyeshadow and then I am good to go. I am really looking forward to trying out these combinations. Great work, as always!!
I am really pleased to see that Look #4 made the cut! I think you were wearing this look in your ‘behind the scenes of a Sunday post’ members video and I was really hoping it would make it to the final edit as I loved it so much! Yaaay!!
Zabrena
Yayyyy!! Yep! #4 grew on me after I wore it around the house for a little bit and it actually came out better than I thought it would!
Enjoy the palette! I’ll be adding more looks to this post very soon! 🙂
Karah
Z,
Did you put the purple/pinkish look in the Spotlight? The one you did after look 1? I don’t see it on the list.
Zabrena
Yep! It’s #4! 😉
Karah
Sorry, I meant the look and video tutorial you did in early Oct. The colors you used were: Ambush, Madness, VooDoo, and Betrayal. I was wrong. It was a purple/bluish look.
Zabrena
Oh yeah, ha! Funny story – I forgot to take the closed eye pic of that look! Aggghhh. So I’ll have to redo it at some point here. I could’ve sworn I captured it, but nope. LOL
LYN JOBSON
They’re all soooooo beautiful <3 You are the girl!!!!xx
Zabrena
Haha! Thanks, Lyn! I try! 😀
Theresa
Well, this just made me a LOT more excited about getting this palette this weekend! And I was already pretty excited! How is this possible?! lol. Also, I LOVE #4. Thank you so much for everything you do!
Zabrena
LOL! YAY!! You’ll love it! And the great part is we’re just getting started with combos! Many more to come!! 😉
Theresa
Looking forward to it!!!
By the way, quick question! How would you compare the purple shades here to Psychedelic Sister? I am in love with that color but I am currently putting myself on makeup shopping lockdown after that VIB sale at Sephora, hahaha!!
Zabrena
Haha!! Shopping lockdown! 😀
I’ll be joining you after Black Friday/Cyber Monday!
Psychedelic Sister would be most closely comparable with Betrayal in this palette, but Betrayal leans a lot more blue whereas P.S. has a lot more purple, even though it’s a blue based purple. Gosh I hope that makes sense. LOL If you have MAC’s Purple Haze, P.S. is a dupe for that one, too!
Theresa
Oh and I also found a combination I really like so I thought I would share: Dope on the lid, Toxic in the crease and Voodoo in the outer corner. 😀
Is it obvious that I love purple eye makeup? No? Yeah I thought not. 😉
Zabrena
LOL! Love it! I may need to add it onto this post for the end of month updates! 😀 Thank you!
Tiziana Spiteri
Any purple look pls? I just wore coax inner lid betrayal outer lid voodoo outer v and rewind in crease what do you think?
Zabrena
I think that’s a beautiful look! I will be adding more looks to this post shortly 😉
Tiziana Spiteri
If you want to recreate it go ahead I’d love to see it on you
Mariella
So, guess what came home with ME today from Sephora. I went back (was there Saturday Xmas shopping) to get a few more Christmas gifts with my 20% off. I thought if they had it, I’d treat myself to the Hourglass Powder Trio (those “mood lighting” powders which I think are a bit gimmicky but the trio seemed a good value and fun). They were sold out and I was “itching” to buy something. I looked at Hourglass Gypsy and then reasoned that it’s a permanent duo so just kind of sauntered over to look at the Vice2 palette – just all casual, like you do but it GRABBED ON TO ME so I had no choice. Actually, it was the colour “Derailed” that really got me, even though I probably have 5 dupes of it (or not…). I swatched it on the back of my hand and then started wandering the store like some sad eye-shadow zombie, looking for a single dupe and then I thought “For heaven’s sake, just BUY the darned palette – you’ll get 20% off and it’s a far better value than buying one or 2 single shades and then regretting not having the rest of them”. So it’s here (a bit tricky driving with it grabbed onto me but a gal’s gotta do what a gal’s gotta do). I am so in love with so many of the shadows and now I don’t have to avoid all the Vice2 looks/spotlights, which I’d been doing before since it was painful not having it but seeing the gorgeous looks you’ve done.
Zabrena
You seriously made me laugh out loud reading this! I can imagine this evil palette suctioning itself to your hands! LOL! 😀 Hey, at least ya got 20% off – that’s awesome! Derailed is just . . . ugh . . . disgustingly gorgeous! It reminds me of MAC’s Moth Brown, but is still so different! Many more looks to come with this one, so no more avoiding necessary! Haha! You’re so funny! 😀
Malinda Smith
I just bought vice 2 today and I love it but I get overwhelmed I want to wear all the shades at once! I’m so excited to have found your site! I just joined and found all these great combos using the very palette I have yay! It’s so sad when I see a look I love but don’t have the right stuff to do it myself. Great idea for a site I know what I’m going to be doing in my free time! I’m also really impressed at how you respond to all the comments! Keep up the great work!!!
Zabrena
Hi Malinda!
Welcome to the site! 🙂 Thank you for becoming a member!
I completely agree! When I first got into makeup, I’d see some of these ladies on YouTube using a gazillion eyeshadows from ALL KINDS of brands, some discontinued, some super expensive and I would get overwhelmed and get discouraged by that. So when I do these palette posts, for a majority of them I will do my very best to stick to shades within the palette, because I don’t want you to be overwhelmed like I was!
Haha! The site is addictive, lots to look at! 🙂
Enjoy! So happy you’re here!!

I’m so happy I signed in as a member… I kept butting palettes because I got bored of the ones I had and wanted to try something new. By the time I had Naked, Naked2, Smoked, Naked Basics, Too Faced Boudoir Eyes pallete, vice 2 and countless Wet n’ wild palettes and trios, I realized that the problem was that I needed more creative ways to use them. I thought that the good membership would be a good investment cause, tbh, I think it’ll save me a pretty penny in the long run.In any case, thanks for coming up with such a cool concept, fir making such nice eyeshadow combos and for just having such a contagious personality, Zabrena.
Zabrena
Aw, thank YOU for becoming a member Yazmary! 🙂 I’m thrilled you’re finding new ways to use your palettes!

I tried #6 and I have used #1 twice. They are both very nice and I received compliments on my eyes. I went through all your Vice2 looks and noticed that you don’t use the shades betrayal or lovesick. I was wondering if you’ll be doing a look with either of those soon?
Lena Hallberg
Gorgeous looks as usual!
I decided NOT not buy this palette cause I have started to collect MAC’s refill pans. At first glance, I found Vice2 too colourful, but now I realize it also contains many nice neutrals.
It’s for sale at Beautybay.com and cost like 3 MAC refill pans. I’m still waiting for my Naked3 to show up in the mailbox and I really shouldn’t buy any more palettes at the moment;)
What do you say Zabrena? Is it a must have?
Tiziana Spiteri
Omg Zabrena the 10# is so wow. Will try it out as I have more darker skin than you
Jacqueline
This has just been sitting in my drawer and I’m feeling inspired by these gorgeous looks! Looks like I’ll be busting it out tomorrow. 😉

I appreciate you for adding new combos. I have invented something for my collection called “touch that palette”. Adding this process is insuring me that I am getting my money worth. I cannot move on to another palette until I have used each color in that palette at least once. These eye looks are really helping me use each color in this palette.
