Urban Decay Naked3 Palette Looks

naked3palette_2I decided to tote this cute little palette along with me over the Christmas break and let me tell you what, I am madly in love with it! I was able to really work with it on a personal level, more so than a “gotta do looks for the website” level and I discovered a great deal of combos with it. My most favorite one I wore over and over again is #2; very simple to do and subtle enough for daytime wear. My mom caught a glimpse of this palette and the combos I wore from it, and she wants it now, too! (We may just have to spoil mom a bit!)

naked3paletteAfter working with this palette a bit more, I feel some of these shades may be hard to dupe with other shades, BUT I do plan on putting together a full dupe post with it. I also feel like some of these shades are cool-toned, so there’s a mixture of cool and warm tones within this palette, very uniquely coordinated. If you get the opportunity to see this one in person, I highly recommend giving a second glance, whether your warm or cool toned. You might be surprised at how much you like it. As I’ve said, I am in LOVE!

  1. Really love your review and awaiting for some video tutorials and oh yes pls do a post on dupes for this palette as its not available here and I would definitely love to find some good dupes! thank you!!!

    1. Hi,
I don’t know if you can get The Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette where you live, but it has dupes for Naked 3. It’s much cheaper that Naked 3, at around $20, but the quality is not as good as Naked 3. Although, I’ve read good things and reviews about it. Coastal Scents is available online through their website. πŸ™‚

  2. I’ve been patiently checking and rechecking all day waiting for this post! I am so excited to try it out all these looks. I really do love this palette, most of the looks seem like they’d work during the day. Although I have worn UD Mildew during the day, so maybe I can’t talk!

    1. LOL! I’m with you! πŸ™‚ A lot of these are very day appropriate, that’s how I wore ’em even if they were a little smokier than usual but I feel like they’re not strong colors that are too overpowering … if that makes sense. LOL

  3. Gorgeous looks! I plan to by this palette, but UD is not sold in Sweden. I buy all my UD stuff from Beautybay.com and they donΒ΄t have it yet.
What about MAC dupes? Will you make one for Naked3 as well?

      1. Yes, it was there already in the beginning of January. Then it was sold out and now back in stock again. However, I was not so thrilled of it. You can read my comments below. I guess it’s because I have found MAC;)

  4. Gorgeous looks, Zabrena! I am soooo happy to see this post :o) . I have been thinking of buying this palette and I was thinking to myself, ‘I wonder what looks Zabrena has come up with’, lol!

I really love pinky-neutral shades – I find them to be very wearable. I especially love the look of Trick in the palette – so pretty!

      1. It does! I wore that combo already. I think may of these shadows look great with Naked1. So Happy with this pallete πŸ™‚

  5. Hi Z! I’m fairly new to eyeshadow art so this is probably a “newbie” question: You use MAC’s Blanc Type a lot for your blending. Is this because of your skin tone or is it because it’s a great blend shade for everyone? I have an olive complexion with black hair and don’t currently own this shade, but I have a GC to the MAC store! Wahoo! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the help!

    1. Hi Melissa!
Feel free to ask all the newbie questions you like! πŸ™‚ I use Blanc Type a lot as it’s a very close match to my natural skintone and makes it look like I’m not wearing anything on the brow. So the combination appears to naturally fade out. I don’t recommend Blanc Type for every skintone as it is too light for those who are darker than me for example. I know some ladies who are darker who use shades like Kid and Soft Brown as their blending shade, so it really depends on your unique skintone. Wahoo for the MAC store!! I’d highly recommend testing the eyeshadows in store there to find your perfect match! πŸ˜‰

  6. Im so happy to see these, Im starting a 30 day eyeshadow challenge with looks from your site. I just couldn’t get started without seeing these! Thank you!!

    1. Meg, what’s a 30 day eye shadow challenge? Do you use the same shades in different ways for 30 days or do you use different shadows every day for 30 days? As a dyed in the wool eye shadow addict, this sounds like something I would LOVE to try!

        1. The 30 day eyeshadow challenge is that you wear a different look for 30 days. Not the same eyeshadow everyday. A different look each day. Some people will have a blog and show their looks each day. I thought we already wore different e/s everyday. lol I guess maybe not everyday for a month.

          1. Ah! I had a feeling that’s what it was. I don’t think I’ve ever done that. Sometimes I’ll find a look I LOVE and wear it over and over and over for about a week …. or two! LOL! #2 in this post is a testament to that!

          2. It might be a interesting idea for you to try. With your site and all. If I was was you, I wouldn’t do it on YouTube. I would do it on the site and maybe do a couple of teasers on YouTube for membership. That’s just me though. You know better about these things than I do. πŸ™‚

          3. Thanks for the explanation. I thought it might be 30 days using the same palette (I’m up for that). I’m too busy in the mornings, though, to try a different look and different shadows every day and I don’t think I could abandon my favourites for that long (it might hurt their feelings!)

          4. I did a 100 day challenge. I about went crazy, because I found some looks that I really wanted to wear again, but couldn’t until the time was up. With all the palettes and shadows I own, I could probably make it a year before having to do a duplicate. *blush *

  7. Ah, the long awaited Naked 3 combos! Thank you, thank you, thank you! These are absolutely lovely! And I’m going to try #2 tomorrow! It’s beautiful, as are all the others. So glad I bought this pallet right when it came out! Thanks, Z!

  8. These are so absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you so much for this post!! I have no idea which one is my favorite yet, but I’m sure I will find out soon enough. πŸ˜‰

  9. Finally Naked 3 was available at Beautybay.com. Really looking forward to receive it. The looks look really gordeous!

  10. Soooo glad to have all of these up!! I’m a prestige beauty advisor at Ulta and I cannot tell you how many times a day I use one of your looks when showing someone how to use their palettes!! Don’t worry I always tell them about your site too ; ).

  11. I just received my looooong awaited naked 3 (we don’t get UD here) and I ABSOLUTELY cannot wait to try it out! Will stay attentively tuned for some darker combos. Thanks Z!!

  12. This palette was an immediate buy for me online. So, I didn’t get a really good look at the colors. But, I was so happy when it came! Your looks are so lovely and inspiring. Thanks loads for giving me ways to use Naked 3.

  13. Hey Z, I have been so on the fence between this palette and the Lorac Unzipped. I decided to go with the Unzipped palette and I fell in love. Don’t get me wrong, I love UD and have the Basics, Naked 1 & 2 plus about 3-4 others. I think the Lorac Unzipped was a better choice for me with my medium skin tone.

  14. Love the two new looks, especially #9. Actually, I love #8 too, but my eyes are too hooded to wear that much dark on my lids! πŸ™

  15. I think all ur looks are beautiful Z! I’ve had this pallet since Christmas but haven’t tried it yet because I was wondering what u came up with first & I’m not shocked that all the looks are great. Seeing all ur looks makes me think of how great this pallet is for valentines .

  16. Received my Naked3 last week and have used over the weekend.

Great colours BUT, I’m not very happy with the texture of some of the colours (which also happens to be the most beautiful once). Dust, Buzz and Trick are powdery even flaky. Lot’s of fall out. Remind me a lot of Half Baked (Naked1)which I found hard to work with.

Struggled with Blackheart this morning. Can’t see the point putting this lovely glitter into it when it ends up on the cheeks anyway. Left on the lid is only a grafite mess:(
However, I was quite satisfied with the final look. I also used two shadows from Naked1:

    Inner corner: Virgin
    Inner lid: Sin
    Middle lid: Buzz
    Outer lid: Blackheart
    Crease: Nooner

Tomorrow I’ll try your favorite combo #2!

  17. What eyeshadow primer do u prefer most especially with the naked 3
Pallet. I used MAC soft orcher paint pot with look 2 & the colors didn’t look
Anything on me the way they do on u in the pic. I will try UD primer potion
With it tomorrow & see how it turns out

  18. I love look 10, but every time I’ve tried using blackheart it doesn’t work out well for me. It just doesn’t go on very smooth and it looks really patchy. Do you have any tips for applying blackheart?

    1. Hi Sonya! Sure! Is your primer still too wet when you go to apply it? Sometimes if the primer hasn’t dried well enough it can result in a patchy look. If you want to try another method, you could also try applying translucent powder to your lid before applying Blackheart to create a more smooth surface for it. That might help, too. Please let me know your findings!

  19. I see you use Buzz in the crease a lot. I have difficulties using shimmery shadows in the crease. I prefer matte ones there.

Actually I’m not so thrilled of this pallet. Maybe my expectations became too high after 3 weeks waiting to receive it;)

My major concern is I wish Limit would have been less purple to better match Dust and Burnout. More like Mac’s Malt.

    1. Lena, I agree with you. Naked 3 has been a little disappointing to me too. I was so excited when it first came out, but it hasn’t quite lived up to my expectations after the other two.

      1. I think I’ve figured it out with the matte shades. I compared with Naked1. The glittery shade(s) to the right of the matte shade matches it. I.e Limit goes well with Buzz.

  20. I just bought Naked 3 last week,so I am really looking forward to trying out these combos! I especially love look 10 – stunning!

      1. I’ve tried out the palette a couple of times now and I absolutely love it! The eye shadows are such a dream to work with – buttery smooth and so easy to blend. I’ll need to send you the combos I came up with – they turned out so nicely.

  21. I just bought a membership and it was so worth it! I had no idea how to pair these gorgeous shadows together—besides just 2-3 basic looks. I’m so excited to try these looks! Thanks so much Zabrena!

  22. How would you say this palette compares to Lorac Unzipped? I have Unzipped (which I loooovvveee) and I have been debating on Naked3. I’m just not SURE if am sold on it JUST yet. I do have the other two Naked palettes and adore them, especially Naked2.
Your channel on YouTube has easily become one of my favorites! πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Rebekah! Thank you for the compliments (and for being a member!)! πŸ™‚ My opinion is if you really liked the previous Naked palettes, you will LOVE Naked3! I still need to sit down and do an actual swatch comparison between it and the Unzipped palette, because I’ve been asked a lot about how they compare. Last I compared them side by side just by looking at them, I personally like Naked3 more because you get pinks and purples, whereas Unzipped is more of a pinky-brown palette. Just my opinion. πŸ™‚ At any rate, I don’t believe you would be disappointed in getting Naked3 AT ALL! πŸ˜‰

  23. I would love to see some of these looks done on someone with a more olive tone complexion. πŸ™‚

  24. LOVE these new looks! I’ve been using Trick on the lid and Limit in the crease, so I will totally try #17 now!

  25. Is there a Mac dupe for MUG Cinderella? I usually wait till l have about 10 item in my shopping cart before placing an order due to postage and this is the only eyeshadow l need and l’m not prepared to pay shipping costs for 1 item.

  26. i was wondering if there are any dupes for strange. its such a stunning colour! already have UD Naked Palettes 1 and 2 so not so sure i want to get 3 as well since i didn’t find 1 and 2 to be all that different from each other. love all these looks though. beautiful! πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Lisa! The closest I found was layering MAC’s Orb with discontinued shade Creamy Bisque (you’re welcome to see the full dupe post here for swatch comparisons: https://myeyeshadowconsultant.com/2014/01/18/mac-dupes-for-naked3-palette/) – there’s also this option from Coastal Scents, which is an exact dupe for the Naked3 palette at only $20 and you get 8 more shades! https://myeyeshadowconsultant.com/2015/01/16/an-affordable-dupe-palette-for-naked3/

      Hope this helps! πŸ™‚
