I had high hopes for the Saint palette by Kat Von D, as it is my first experience with her products. Sadly, it fell short for me in a lot of different areas, some I didn’t even expect. To start, I feel like there are some great colors in this palette, BUT they are highly dupeable with so many eyeshadows from other brands. Secondly, I couldn’t believe how powdery these eyeshadows were – comparable to some of the finishes you’d find in The Balm’s ‘Nude Tude. If you just lay your brush on the eyeshadow, it practically explodes onto the brush. Like it can’t wait to hop on your eye! However, once it’s there, it can’t wait to jump off. This is true of the lighter shades in the palette, the darker shades didn’t act like that, nor did the matte pink.

(L to R, Bottom Row) Sunny, Pray for Me, Bookworm, Caravaggio
Finally, during eyeshadow application it’s normal to get some of it in your eyes sometimes, right? Well, holy moly! With this palette I wanted to get it anywhere else except in my eyes. If a tiny amount dropped into my eyes, it burned like I had gotten rubbing alcohol in my eye. Sadly, that was the case with EVERY eyeshadow in this palette. At first I thought it was this shade, that shade but it ended up being all of them. No ill effects afterwards, but I’ve never had eyeshadows sting my eyes before!
To sum it up, skip it if you’re considering it. There are MUCH better palettes out there you can get for what you’d spend on this one! However, if you managed to get this one and like it, here are some of the ways you can wear it … π

That is so bizarre that this happened to you! I won the Ladybird palette and it’s never disappointed me! The colors are stunning, especially the matte deep orange as a transition shade or to warm up the crease. I would suggest exchanging this palette for Ladybird and see if you have the same outcome. I would love to hear an update (and looks to go along with that palette!!) if you happen to do so! Xoxox

I own*** the Ladybird Palette, whoops!
Zabrena
Hi Kim!
Well, I bought Ladybird along with the Saint palette, so I’m hoping that I’ll have a different experience with it at least! Very disappointing π On a positive note, I’m giving the products one more shot with Ladybird! π
Kim Richards
I hope you have better luck with the Ladybird palette as well, I’ve always enjoyed using it! I am really looking forward to seeing what looks you come up with! I personally LOVE the matte orange and purple, they are just stunning for the crease!

Wow! I’m sorry you had so much trouble with this one. Ouch! I hope your eyes are ok. I bought one of her e/s and was not impressed. This looks like one of the most dupable palettes ever! If Ladybird isn’t any better for your eyes, I think I would skip anymore Kat Von D palettes. Your eye health is more important than any makeup. π
Zabrena
Hey K! Yes! Eyes are looking good today. I typically wash the looks off when I’m done with the last set, but I left them on longer yesterday to see if anything else happened and wouldn’t you know it, my eyes started to burn more! I washed them off straight away and didn’t mess around. So it isn’t just with application with me. It’s bizarre because I typically don’t have problems with eyeshadows. Not like that! I agree on skipping if Ladybird does that to me too, not worth it!

Have you tried the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette?
Karah
Hi,
The Two Faced Chocolate Bar palette has a lot of dupes in it. Personally, I would never buy a TF palette again. I’ve had to much trouble with them. They copy themselves too much. With a slight change here or there. Some people love TF palettes though. If you don’t have much MAC, UD, or Inglot e/s, and love medium to darker neutrals you might like this one. I’m curious what you have to say Zabrena. I know you had trouble with your last TF palette. Wasn’t that the palette that gave you an eye infection a few months ago? I can’t remember the exact name. Was it Pretty Rebel?
Zabrena
Ugh, yes! I’ve been leery of the Pretty Rebel palette ever since my eye swelled up like a balloon with it. First palette that’s ever done that to me. π I just haven’t been too impressed with TF’s eyeshadows either.
Zabrena
Haven’t tried that one!

I am so happy you reviewed this Kat Von D pallet! I was in Sephora and saw it, and was impressed with the colors in the various pallets. Hadnβt seen any reviews on it, so I ended up getting Stilaβs In the Moment pallet instead (which I LOVE, it was my first purchase of any Stila eyeshadow). Both Stila and Kat Von D were the same price as I recall, so it seems from reading your review that I made the right choice! I do like the combos though, very nice! Thanks!

I’m terribly allergic to all of the Kat Von D palettes. They cause my eyes to swell shut, as do most eyeshadow primers. Do you know if there’s a unique ingredient in there that might be causing these reactions? I’ve met several people now who’ve found these products to be literally painful.
Zabrena
That’s awful Heather! I’m so sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing that, though – your comment made me wonder if there is a unique ingredient in those products from other eyeshadows. I’ll need to do some research on it. I’m sure that’s what it is! I couldn’t believe how painful these eyeshadows were π

Thanks for taking the time to show us some combo looks with Kat Von D e/s. I’m loving look #6 π I don’t have this palette, but I finally tried some looks with her other palette, Spellbinding and also felt a slight burning and itching in the eyes. Yikes!
I’m sorry they caused a bad reaction to your eyes, please take care of them! Maybe get your $ back on this one…

You said these have a lot of dupes/are very dupe-ableβI have been looking for Peanut and/or Enjoy the Silence out of a palette /forever/. I personally loved them, but I don’t need a whole new palette for one shade. Do you know any dupes for one or both of these Kat Von D colours? Everything else I look at (Mac Nylon, Urban Decay Vanilla) is far too cool while others suggested as a ‘close but no cigar’ (UD’s Sin) just… don’t make the cut.
Kelley
When I wear Kat Von D eye shadows, my eyes get really red and irritated and will swell shut. I love love love the colors and get compliments on them, but I had to stop wearing them when I realized her eyeshadows were causing this.
