Finish: Matte / Bright violet-blue
Well, the name is accurate! If I were going to describe this shade, ‘Atlantic Blue’ is quite fitting as it is that deep blue color of the Atlantic Ocean. This color is very easy to work with in terms of application and blending; the only difficult thing about this color is pairing it with other colors! It is so obnoxiously bright and I actually found myself quite stumped with this one throughout my time creating this post. Naturally, it does pair beautifully with other blues and also neutrals (they help to tone it down a LOT!); you can also pair this up with light oranges, yellows and potentially brighter greens (very on trend right now!). Unfortunately, my creative juices ran dry with this post, does happen every now and then, so I’ll have to come back to it at the end of the month and add some more looks 😉
Look #1
MAC eyeshadows used:
- Electra (on lid, below crease)
- Atlantic Blue (outer third of lid, layered over Electra; this will lighten it a bit)
- Cork (crease)
- MakeupGeek Fame Gel Liner (line upper lashline)
- Blanc Type (blend)

Hey Zabrena! So happy to see Atlantic Blue appearing in the ‘Spotlight On’ post – it’s such a pretty colour!
I love pairing Atlantic Blue with pinks and purples. It looks so pretty alongside shades like MAC Da Bling, MAC Fashion Groupie (quite similar to Satellite Dreams) and MUG Unicorn.

Hi Saira! Yes it is! 🙂
Ahhh yes I can see it being lovely with those colors, I am looking forward to playing with it more!
(P.S. Got your email about FL advice and will respond soon! 😉 )

Hi Zabrena!
Yeah, Atlantic Blue is beautiful with pinks and purples. I used it last week in the outer v with MUG Unicorn in the crease, Electra on the lid and Naked Lunch to blend/highlight. Looked really pretty! I also forgot to mention that Atlantic Blue looks amazing in the crease with Steamy on the lid – I love that look a lot :o) .
Oh, and I will look out for your email on FL advice. Thanks so much for that.

Hi Z,
Beautiful looks! 🙂 Does this e/s look like any other of MAC’s blues, or is not dupable? Thanks 🙂
Saira,
Great ideas! 🙂 I bet purples and pinks are beautiful with this color.

I have tons of colors like this and can never figure out how to wear them. Having blue eyes always seemed to add to the problem. I could never figure out how to soften and where to place a color like this without looking like I was stepping back into the 80’s (which I loved, but don’t need to repeat). This was perfect for showing the multiple ways of wearing a color like this.
Zabrena
I hear ya, Kimberly! Haha! Stepping back to the 80s! LOL!
I’m so glad you found the combos helpful! 😀

Really beautiful combos. Thanks for showing how to use such an intense color.

I tried a look today putting a cobalt shade into the crease and outer v, but it keeps sheering out when I blend. Is it the quality of the eyeshadow or should I put nyx milk pencil into the outer v as well to make it stand out more? I really appreciate your advice. Thanks if you have time for my question.
Zabrena
Hi! The only thing I could think of when you described the issue is are you using too much of the blending shade? That could be sheering it down too much. Sometimes I have to use a brush with nothing on it and just move it around in circles on the edges until it diffuses. Hope that makes sense. Please let me know! 🙂
