Face of the Day: 2014 Birthday Look!

bdayHelllloooo Gorgeous Ones!

Happy Birthday to me! Haha! 😉 Usually for my birthday, I go for a real smokey eye and a nude lip, as I’ve done in past birthday looks, but I’ve really been feeling the BOLD lip colors lately, so I wanted to weave one into my birthday look, too. I decided to keep the eyes neutral in this all MAC eyeshadow look, which makes the bodacious lip color pop even more! The lip color I’m wearing is one of my most favorites from MAC: Flat Out Fabulous … and it is! It’s a matte lip color, which I typically don’t like. However, my husband LOVES the color of MAC’s Show Orchid (but hates that it rubs off on him), so at least this one will stay put, and it’s a close color match, too!

… wouldn’t you know it? I didn’t realize it until putting this post together, but this is an all matte look, eyes and lips included! Ha!

Hope you’re having a great day! 😀

  1. Happy Birthday!! 🙂 Have a wonderful, blessed day, and I pray you have many more sweetie! 🙂 Have a wonderful time with hubby. Beautiful look. It would be nice if they made something that goes over lipstick to make it stay put. They probably do, I just don’t know about it.

    1. Thank you so much, K! HA! Same here, if there is such a thing I have no clue either. I’m sure hubby would definitely appreciate it! Show Orchid just doesn’t look as good on him as it does me. LOL 😉

Happy birthday to you Z, you look good on your birthday. Have a Nice birthday-weekend. Greetings and birthday-hugs from the Netherlands.

  3. Happy Birthday! Love the look – I have to say, and I’ve been thinking it in my head for awhile now, that you look so much better with a bold lip. I know you love your nudes, but for some reason, I think it washes you out a bit, with your fair coloring. The bold lip really makes everything pop and you really stand out!

Hope you have a great birthay!

    1. Thank you, Shannon! I am starting to see that more and more LOL Took me a while to get accustomed to seeing color on those lips, but I guess it’s better late than never – appreciate your feedback, thank you for the compliment! xoxo!

  4. happy birthday!!! I am so inspired by your site. I love doing my eye shadow in new create ways!! BTW, my oldest daughter celebrated her 16th birthday on Sept 10th.

I hope your birthday was as spunky as you!!!

    xoxo

    1. That’s wonderful, Katara! I’m elated to hear you’re enjoying the site! Aw! Happy belated birthday to your beautiful daughter! Hee hee – it was a spunky birthday for sure! LOL! 😉 xoxo!!

  5. Wowwwww Z, this look is flat out FABULOUS!! Haha! I love how the eyes came together, I think it’s time for me to pick up corduroy! Unless you have any good dupe suggestions?! I could always go back and look through the archieves as well and check the MUG site as I know Marlena has done a huge post in the past with Mac dupes. I hope you had an amazing birthday, I was drooling over how fabulous you looked in that mint dress you wore that you showed in the video- I’m sure your husband was too

    1. Haha! Thank you so much, Kim! His jaw definitely dropped, nice to know I can still do that after all these years! (Nothing feels better, right?!) For Corduroy, it is VERY dupeable! See if you have a dark matte brown in your collection; ones I can think of offhand are MUG’s Mocha (I think?), MAC’s Handwritten and Ground Brown … Charcoal Brown, Espresso could also work – ones like that would be beautiful in its place! Hope that helps and thank YOU for your compliments and support! Love to you! xoxo!

    1. Thank you, Karin! Haha! See if you have a dark matte brown eyeshadow first; Corduroy is VERY dupeable, thankfully! If not, it is a GREAT one to get! 😉 (You would love it!)

  6. Zabrena, you look stunning. Absolutely stunning. I love the dress you wore for your birthday – very va-va-voom! Hope you had an amazing day ☺

  7. Wow, that lipstick really is fabulous! I’ve been wanting to try it for a while now, and now I definitely will make a point of it. 😀

I also love Show Orchid but I can’t wear it because it is the Amplified Creme finish, which contains gluten (be careful all of you sensitive ladies out there!). I was devastated when I bought it without reading the box and found out I couldn’t wear it. I’d bought it in Chicago at the pro store and you can’t return pro products at a regular location. They were nice enough to exchange it for me (even though it was well past the return limit) in Vegas but it still really bothered me. Well, WnW has a fuchsia with blue pearl color that’s readily available and is a good dupe, and I believe NYX has one as well. So that’s an option for anyone who can’t make it to a pro store. I wish they’d open one up in the metro Detroit area, but it’s probably best that they haven’t, LOL…
