MakeupGeek MATTE Eyeshadow Looks

MakeupGeek recently added 16 brand new matte eyeshadows to their range, and reformulated 3 from their existing collection (Boo Berry, Fairytale and Stealth). If you have been wondering what the quality is like with these, I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed! In fact, you might find yourself reaching for them more than any of the other mattes you already own! I found these to be so buttery smooth, soft, and pigmented. Very easy to apply onto the eyes, and blending is a complete DREAM task with these. Some of the best MakeupGeek eyeshadows to date!

My favorite shades in the lineup would have to be Sorbet, Morocco, Petal Pusher, Cherry Cola (yes, please!) and Time Travel. Time Travel is very reminiscent of MAC’s Plumage, but with a 10x better formulation. I always found Plumage rather hard to work with and one you had to layer to get the color to come through. If you have experienced the same, but you love the color, you MUST try Time Travel!

They last extremely well on the eyes, with no creasing and they are perfect for mature eyelids as they will not accentuate fine lines. I also really love mixing these in with MakeupGeek’s line of Foiled eyeshadows, so many great combos, so little time!

What do you think of the new mattes?

  1. I love the new colors-in look 2 it doesn’t look like the motown in your swatch tho. I may order a few-especially time travel as I have Plumage but as you say-it is very difficult to work with and I like the color. I also like Cherry Cola and a couple of others. My existing palettes need refreshing to replace some of the more glittery Mac shadows I really don’t use anymore. Great job as usual on the looks!

    1. Or maybe Stealth would be better.

I’ve recently realized that talc-free shadows behave better on my old lady eyelids so I may put together a quad of these to see how they go.

  2. Hi Zabrena,
Do you know any similar Mac or UD shadows to Petal Pusher? I would really love to buy some of the MUG matte shadows, but would love it even more if I had them already (somewhere) in my collection. Thanks!!

  3. Ok might be a silly question but what is the difference between out half of lid and outer v? One look I think you did same color in both? Thank you!!

  4. I LOVE me some matte eyeshadows, and they’re difficult to find!
So far, I own only Bedrock from MUG, and while the quality is there, it’s a bit too blue for my liking.
It has a frustrating tendency to look like a nice taupe-gray in online swatches, but on NW15 me it goes blue-gray.
Maybe I’ll try Concrete Jungle next, and I’m pretty sure Vintage will be coming to live with me, too.

  5. I love the MUG matte colors and you did such a good job combining them in looks, so pretty. Please do more looks with them.
